Since August, we have been offering cataract patients the option of a Light Adjustable Lens (LAL). A unique feature of the LAL by RxSight is that the refractive power can be changed and adjusted multiple times with a clinic-based UV light source.

The LAL is a three-piece foldable lens. It is made of photoreactive silicone that changes power in response to UV light applied while it is inside the healed eye. This greatly increases the likelihood that patients will achieve their desired vision. An FDA study of 600 subjects found that those who received the LAL were twice as likely to achieve 20/20 uncorrected vision as those who received a standard monofocal IOL.

Our light adjustments are performed after the eye heals and the refraction is stable. Once the patient is happy with their customized vision, we lock-in the prescription. The adjustments and lock-in take between three and seven weeks to complete.

AVAILABLE NOW

LALs are now available at our offices in:

 • Bellevue, WA

 • Chehalis, WA

 • Portland, OR

They will soon be offered in several additional locations.

Our mission is to provide the best possible comanagement services to the profession of optometry. If we can help with anything, please be in touch.
