Adding to the embarrassment is a common myth that rosacea sufferers with a red face and nose are alcoholics. While alcohol may aggravate rosacea, the symptoms can be just as severe in non-drinkers. Another misconception is that rosacea is caused by poor hygiene, while in truth this disorder is unrelated to personal cleanliness.
Skin treatment with oral antibiotics, diet changes, topical creams (metronidazole), and cosmetic surgery led 73% of respondents to say their emotional well being improved. And 71% said their social lives improved.
