I had cataract surgery at your Tacoma office. My vision had been less than 20/400 with significant astigmatism in both eyes. My glasses were able to correct me to about 20/30. I was told that Toric lens implants might correct me to about 20/25, but I'd still have some astigmatism that would require full-time glasses. I can't begin to express my satisfaction. As of today, I have better than 20/25 vision (uncorrected), with NO astigmatism! I only require a small correction for reading. All of the staff provided me with the utmost care and comfort. 41 years of wearing ‘coke bottle’ glasses and contact lenses just came to an abrupt end. I was legally blind without them. My optometrist said my vision was somewhere around 20/2000... Last year my eye doctor told me the reason I was losing fine detail was due to cataracts. He said it was actually a good thing with today’s technology. It was getting very frustrating not being able to get enough light to see well enough to work on small circuit boards and I had trouble reading too. Driving at night was getting very bad, with fuzzy halos around oncoming headlights. I was actually nervous about renewing my driver’s license because of the eye test. Surgery was done on my first eye the day after Christmas. It was AMAZING. I was able to compare vision of both eyes for the two weeks between surgeries. With the ‘old’ eye, everything was dull, dingy, and had something in the way. With the ‘new’ eye, even newsprint looked pristine bleached white! Last Wednesday I had surgery on the second eye. Now, I can see 20/20, and if I squint, I can even read a couple of lines below the standard 20/20 line on the chart. For me, someone who had to crawl around and grope the floor for my glasses if I knocked them off the nightstand, suddenly going straight to 20/20 vision is a MIRACLE! The entire staff at PCLI is the best. They remember me by name when I walk in. They’ve answered my endless stream of questions as if I’m the only one who’s ever asked them before. Dr. Johns told me everything that was happening all through the procedures (both times). He patently answered my last minute questions as I was getting the first eye done. (Friends in the observation room said I was talking the entire time he was operating.) With the PCLI staff, I felt as if I was among family members. Thank you for giving me a new life! Glasses and contacts are no longer a part of it and I will never miss them!

What fraternity!! I had surgery on Wednesday and from the time I checked in with the receptionists until I left, I have never been treated so royally. Dr. Bell explained everything; Dr. Guzek’s special prayer and skill, techs, Mike and Ted, all the workers who tested me during my visit. There just aren’t enough positive adjectives to describe the extremely courteous atmosphere in that building. Even on the return visit the next morning I wasn’t a “has-been.” All I can say is WOW!! Pam called my motel in the evening to check on my well-being. And all that wasn’t enough; I was given a video of the operation on my way out. I just want to thank all those who worked on me for “top-drawer” service.

It has now been one year and three months since our sister, Arlene Warner, had her eyes opened with an eye operation to remove cataracts. The first cataract was removed by Dr. Gruzensky in November. We will never forget Arlene’s reaction on that day. When we removed the tape holding her eye closed, she looked at us and said with excitement, “The doctor opened my eyes.” We could not hold back the tremendous thrill we felt as tears rolled down our cheeks. Then one week later, Dr. Ford removed the cataract from the other eye. Her response was even more excited and we cried again. Many times when we talk to her about being able to see something that we are talking about, her response is again and again, “The doctors opened my eyes.” Arlene has always been the special one in our family. She was born with Down Syndrome on January 24, 1932 into a family of eight children. Another sister was born later in 1937. I was born a year and a half before Arlene, in May 1930. So I was and have been very close to her. I have written this to let you know that she is doing great and to ‘Thank You’ all, whoever you are, that had a part in giving her sight back to her, so she can enjoy seeing all the beautiful things we all take for granted.

She is thrilled that she does not have to deal with contacts or glasses. I was able to watch the whole procedure, and from my observations the key to success is the skill of the surgeon. We chose this facility based on the recommendation of my wife's optometrist, who has collected data on different LASIK facilities. I had LASIK surgery and the final outcome was excellent. I can actually read at 20/15 vision. No problems with darkness (that would have been a significant problem since I live where it is dark most of the winter). The stumbling block was that in the interim I was diagnosed with diabetes. Can you believe your Institute even helped with this? Right after my procedure Dr. Ford recommended I read a book titled THE CHINA STUDY. It took several months and the diabetes diagnosis to read it, but this book started me down the path of a vegan diet (plant based food). That's what I currently eat. My vision improved, plus I have full control of my blood sugars without any medication. In addition, I advise many of my patients to at least lean toward a more plant based diet. Thank you!

Before Dr. Ford corrected my vision, my contacts were -8.5 and -9.00. I felt nearly blind without correction and insecure should an emergency arise at night and I couldn't get to my glasses, even with them by my bedside. My contacts caused my eyes to become dry and red, but I still wore them all the time because my glasses had such thick lenses. Immediately after the LASIK procedure I could see clearly! It was a miracle to me. For months and months I marveled at my ability to see... something I never expected to experience in this life. My four young daughters couldn't believe "mommy" could see at night without wearing glasses and didn't need to wear contacts any longer. The precedure was painless and amazingly quick. I also very much appreciated Dr. Ford offering to pray just before he began. WOW! I never experienced that in a doctor/patient relationship. I've had a lot of fears about corrective surgery to my eyes. My dad is an optometrist so I grew up with a great appreciation for vision and eye health. Wow! It's been 2 weeks since I had LASIK at your Vancouver office with Dr. Shenk, and I am truly amazed at my 20/20 vision. I have not seen clearly with my own eyes since I was 11 years old, so this is quite an exceptional experience. I had a fair amount of correction and astigmatism in both eyes, so these results so far have just been the absolute best I could've hoped for! I am your Refractive Surgery Counseling Coodinator's brother and I had my LASIK done in Bellevue this week. Although my sister helped me through the process, I feel compelled to let you know that Dr. Ford and the entire staff in Bellevue and Chehalis made my experience great! Your staff helped me feel comfortable and relaxed. The office decor also helped with the homey feeling and added to the comfort. I was very nervous but your staff was so supportive and compassionate. Being a believer myself, it meant a lot when Dr. Ford prayed with me at the start of my surgery. It made me realize that I truly was in the best care. It has been 3 weeks since my surgery, and I am seeing a perfect 20/20. I had been legally blind (and then some) and have worn contacts/glasses for 20 years. I still wake up smiling, whether it be just a gradual wake into my morning, or being awoken by my children, and for the first time EVER, being able to see there sweet little faces without having to fumble for my glasses first. We had the pleasant experience of having LASIK surgery at your Lewiston, Idaho facility. We are so very impressed by the wonderful treatment that seems to be the norm for you and your employees to exhibit. I am a sales coordinator and my wife has been a nurse for over 35 years. Neither of us has ever before seen the caliber of care we witnessed. Although it was a surgery day, no one let us know they were rushed nor stressed. We felt as though we were the only patients that day. It makes me feel especially proud that my daughter works with such special people. Dr. Shenk and Dr. Bell were our doctors. Everyone discussed potential concerns and how surgery could not be expected to provide perfect vision. But the ultimate success has been staggering. I just had to write and tell you how excited I am about my "new eyesight". Dr. Ford performed Lasik on both of my eyes yesterday. I have just returned from my follow up appointment this morning and am thrilled to report that I am already seeing 20/20 in both eyes! Wow! But even better news, upon seeing Dr. Everett in the Spokane office this morning, he informed me that he fully expects that by tomorrow I will be seeing 20/15 in both eyes! I knew that with Lasik my vision would be a great improvement over what it was, but I never expected in my wildest dreams that it would be better than perfect! I would like to take this opportunity to complement you and your organization. I had LASIK surgery on both eyes in your Kennewick office today. The entire process was handled very professionally and it was a joy to work with everyone involved—even the money collector. Your staff was very professional yet very, very friendly and made me feel completely comfortable.   The treatment was pain free and I even elected not to have the valium or demerol. Surgery was at 12:00 and by 1:30 my vision was totally clear. Since first grade I have been dependent on glasses and contact lenses and could not function in day to day life without them, and today I wear only my very own eyes!! I cry often tears of happiness telling others of "my miracle" (that is how I refer to it as). If I could possibly have some business cards to pass on it would be great.
